Week 13 - Fall 2008

J F K

J isn't for John, it stands for James.

And F isn't for Fitzgerald, it stands for F'ing.

Finally, we have K....and it sure as heck doesn't stand for Kennedy. It stands for Kwon.

Put it all together, and what do you have? A darts player, built like a fire-hydrant with a head.

We call him 'JFK'.

The 24 year old A-league rookie carried the Dartbags to a 14-10 victory, catapulting them into 5th place, skipping over 2 teams in the standings, the Big Triple Hunters, and this weeks opponent, Boolsheet.

JFK opened the match sweeping their best shot, Mark Evans, which is no small task. This guy is solid. All 3 games were slug-fests. JFK hit more 80-somethings than a geriatric giggolo. He answered every big shot with one haymaker of his own, slamming the door on Mark, going out on his first dart in all....3....games.

Ridiculous.

After sweeping singles, he threw FURIOUS on his back and swept cricket. And if it weren't for a momentary lapse in doubles 501, he and CUPPA would have swept that as well.....but the last game of the night got away.

Final score, Dartbags 14 - Boolsheet 10, and 8/9 for The Kwon. The most solid individual performance of the season thus far. Nothing sexy....only 318 allstar points. All he did was win, though, and in commanding fashion.

Give the rest of the 'bags a nod for their supporting roles:

Vince was deadly in cricket.

FURIOUS was solid in singles, taking 2/3 against Garo, who racked up 500 points against him. He also went 7/9 on the night.

CUPPA's hi-light was a back to back T, 4T0, in the final game of the night, setting up JFK to end the match with a doubles sweep. Wasn't to be.....but 14 was good enough.

Allstar recap:

Vince - 345
JFK - 318
FURIOUS - 314
CUPPA - 240

This week is Christmas week, so no darts will be thrown. Next monday is the final match of the season. The Dartbags will take on Threepenny Opera, away, at McSwiggan's bar on 2nd avenue, between 22nd and 23rd.

After a lost season, a 5th place finish for the 'bags would be a huge victory. However, its highly unlikely. The boys play a very tough Threepenny Opera team, who should be set as a 5 point favorite. Boolsheet, who is 3 points behind us, plays Jumbled Alien Paranoia, who's having a very rough season, and would most likely be a 3-4 point underdog.

You get the picture.

But no one really knows what the future holds, and some time before monday......the 'bags should take a step back, and listen to the immortal words of Herm Edwards (click here).

Go Dartbags!

And Merry Christmas, Joy Harmon!
